Public Fix Profile for Outlook® Microsoft Office Marketplace-Logo
Public Fix Profile is a Microsoft® Outlook® Freeware Addon to support the delation of duplicate Personal Folders in Outlook. On some other websites you find this duplicate Personal Folders also under names like "Ghost PST files" or "phantom PST files"

These duplicate entries of identical Personal Folders in Outlook is a result of abandoned entries in the Windows Registry.

Clear Editor:
The announcement of the Registry entries which can be deleted were placed in a clear editor.

Backup function for the appropriate range of the Registry. If you should delete wrong entries of the Outlook profile, you can recreate the Registry at any time.

Why do I get Personal Folder entries in Microsoft Outlook?

The reason is often an update of Outlook on a higher version, without creating a new Outlook profile or to first delete the old Outlook profile. Other reasons could be wrongly developed Outlook Addons which create additional registry entries for Outlook folders or a reason could be the import of data into Outlook.

The most frequent messages are for example:

"can't remove duplicate personal folders after update to Outlook 2003"
This duplicate Personal Folder behaves exactly like the original....all subfolders within each of the 2 Personal Folders are absolutely identical. Whenever messages are received, they are listed and stored in each Inbox folder...when messages are sent, they are shown passing thru each Outbox folder and are subsequently stored in each Sent Items folder.

or

"after an import I can't remove duplicate personal folders"
I have a user with Outlook 2002. She has duplicate Personal Folders. One is called Personal Folder and the other is called Outlook today. Only one is active in receiving and sending e-mails but she wants to get rid of the first Personal Folder and keep the outlook today. I have tried several things.

Most Outlook support sites recommend a new Outlook profile (with the appropriate links to the Microsoft Outlook sides), but there are also different additional solutions, e.g. the Freeware Addon "Public Fix Profile for Outlook".

Public Fix Profile for Outlook is based on the description of this english website:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm (by MVP Diane Poremsky)

This description says, that the de-installation or also a repair of Microsoft Outlook or Office does not change the Outlook Registry, because a Outlook repair or new installation does not affect the profile Properties of Outlook.

The problem is abandoned registry entries, thus entries, which were not properly deleted.

Public Fix Profile for Outlook is a freeware Addon, that indicates the appropriate Registry keys in an editor and in this editor you can delete the "red marked" and wrong registry keys.

Why does Public Fix Profile for Outlook not delete these entries automatically?
The registry belongs to the most sensitive ranges of your PC and we find, you should not delete any entries of your Windows registry without a visual confirmation first, independently if there is a backup function or not.

You can also create a new Outlook profile (this option remains open for you, also after you use Public Fix Profile for Outlook).
